Homeowners Can Now List Properties for Rent on Redfin

Today we launched rental tools on Redfin to help homeowners, investors, property managers and agents list properties for rent on Redfin. With our new rental product, you can create and post a rental listing for free and connect with interested renters searching on Redfin’s site and mobile apps.

“When it’s time to move, many homeowners evaluate whether to list their home for sale or rent it out. We can now help homeowners in either scenario reach the millions of people looking for a new place on Redfin,” said George Perantatos, senior director of product at Redfin. “Renters are looking for a variety of property types from apartments to single family homes, and individual property owners make up a significant share of the overall rental market. Redfin’s rental tools help independent rental property owners fill vacancies quickly and give renters more options for their next place to call home.”

Redfin continues to grow its rental marketplace

Since launching rental search in 2022, Redfin has become a popular destination for renters. Redfin advertises thousands of rental options in cities across the United States in partnership with our rental company, Rent.com. Through Rent.com’s marketplace, multifamily property owners and managers can connect with renters on Redfin, Apartment Guide, Rent.com, and Rentals.com.

Introducing tools for individual rental property owners, real estate investors and agents is a natural next step for Redfin as we build our rental marketplace. We plan to expand our offerings for property owners in the future, including tools to schedule tours, screen renters and submit applications. Watch this space for future updates!

Can I list more than one property for rent at a time?
Yes, you can list several rentals. Our Redfin rental feature is specifically built for people who manage fewer than 10 units, and is only available for buildings with less than 5 units. If you would like to list rentals in 5+ unit buildings on Redfin, please contact Rent at rentals@rent.com or call us at 866-730-7177. We can discuss options customized to your specific needs.

How does Redfin prevent rental fraud?
Redfin takes safety and security seriously and we have built processes into the tool to protect renters from fraud. This includes automatically screening all listings and manually reviewing listings that are flagged as likely fraudulent. We will require two-factor email and phone verification for landlords and suspend the accounts of those suspected of fraud. Together, Redfin and Rent.com’s wealth of historical listing data helps us spot potentially fraudulent listings before they are posted. Despite our best efforts, we may not be able to stop all criminal activity, so if you suspect fraud or have other concerns, please reach out to our customer service team for assistance.
